How to drive for dollars, step by step
To drive for dollars, plan a route through neighborhoods you buy in, drive it, log each vacant or distressed house in an app, look up the owner and follow up. PropStream's glossary describes it as driving until a house looks vacant or distressed, then trying to buy it from the owner. REsimpli's help center documents these steps:
- Build a list in List Stacking, because a route is made from properties already there.
- Select properties that sit close together. REsimpli's map view shows clusters, and its help center says to keep a route to a realistic size for one run.
- Click Actions, then Assign to Drive Route. Name the route, set the start date, pick the driver and click Save Drive Route.
- Drive the route in the mobile app and log each house.
- Look up the owner and follow up by mail or phone.

Try REsimpli →What to log at each house
REsimpli's mobile app logs photos, notes, door knocks and door tags for each property. From the app you can also skip trace the owner, call the owner and order mail. REsimpli says every field find syncs to the property record. In the office, a route's drive schedule lists each address with its visit status, action taken and visited date, plus the photos the driver added.
Two limits to plan around: tags cannot be added while driving, and Driving for Dollars runs only in the mobile app.
Drivers, seats and what they cost
REsimpli says every user gets Driving for Dollars at no extra cost, and its help center adds that driver-only seats beyond one free seat are sold in tiers, so extra drivers who are not users can add a cost.
A driver seat is a mobile-app-only account with no CRM access, so a contractor can drive without seeing your other leads. You switch on only what a driver may do: skip trace records, send direct mail and view other drivers' properties. Changes apply after Save and Exit.
As read on October 23, 2026, REsimpli Solo is $299 a month billed monthly, for the account, with 1 user included. DealMachine prices by seat: Basic is $119 per seat a month billed monthly, with 10,000 data credits a seat.
Following up by mail and phone
REsimpli's direct mail has no minimum order, down to one mailer. Its direct mail page prints per-piece prices: a 4.25 by 6 inch first class postcard is $0.78 a piece for 0 to 200 pieces and $0.70 for 201 to 1,000.
For calls, the Telemarketing Sales Rule (16 CFR Part 310, eCFR as of October 21, 2026) limits residential calls to 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the called person's location. It bars calls to numbers on the national do-not-call registry unless an exception applies. REsimpli's terms leave that compliance with the customer. This is not legal advice.
Picking a driving for dollars app
Compare who can drive, what the app logs, whether mail and skip tracing run from the app, and how seats are priced. REsimpli includes Driving for Dollars in its mobile app for every user, with one driver seat included with every subscription and skip tracing, calls and mail from the app. REsimpli vs DealMachine sets it beside DealMachine.
PropStream's mobile app includes a Driving for Dollars feature, and BatchLeads says its app comes with any package. DealMachine alternatives lists more apps.
You need no app to look at a few streets, because a phone camera and a note per address cover that. Move to an app when several people drive routes and the finds need owners looked up. REsimpli's 14-day free trial, card required, is where you would try its driving feature. For the lists to drive, see how to find motivated sellers for wholesaling.
